If you hadn’t guessed, Unforgettable Notes is a passion project, as I create books for anyone living with dementia or other brain changes or brain injury.
Hello! I’m Clare Harris, a long-term adult education author (English language learning and literacy).
It’s 15 years now since I dreamed of having better books to share with my dear late mum.
She had always loved reading, but brain changes made it hard for her to focus.
It was only in 2019, when a friend told me that I could easily publish through Amazon, that I was able to fulfil this dream.
I started off with visitor books. No more asking ‘Who brought you the lovely flowers?’ – it would be all written down. That was the beginning of Unforgettable Notes.
Then I wanted to create memory friendly puzzle books and reading books, but wasn’t confident I knew enough about dementia-friendly activities. Fortunately, a wonderful person with years of experience in the field offered to advise me, and I’ve had huge support from others, whether with lived experience of memory loss or with professional experience.
I have a Master of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Reading Studies, and I’m still writing books for adults learning English here in Australia, but Unforgettable Notes is hugely important to me.
Just in case you wondered, I don’t use generative AI – all books are written by me, or in consultation with other real-life people.
Thank you for visiting, and great good wishes with your work or care in the dementia field.
